Mat vs. Machine

The matt work is essential for building a fundamental foundation for developing and understanding Pilates.  Purely Pilates puts an emphasis on instructing each student to use proper form and technique while performing mat exercises.  The Apparatus or machines add resistance and an instability factor.  With the assistance and resistance of springs, exercises on the machines allow students to achieve fitness goals and prepare for more advanced exercises.  Depending upon how the spring resistance is used, no two workouts should ever be experienced the same.
